We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Bariatric Surgery team at Guthrie. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in supporting the needs of our practice, working within the scope of your license to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians with duties necessary to support the needs of the practice, working within the scope of your license.
- Direct patients to exam rooms, prepare them for exams or treatments, and record vital signs and medical history.
- Write or call prescriptions after obtaining surgeon/provider authorization, and chart patient information as needed.
- Manage insurance referrals, follow up with specialists, and perform other clerical functions as necessary.
- Assist in maintaining a smooth departmental operation by filling in for other LPNs, clinical assistants, and MOAs as requested.
- Administer prescribed injections/medications, record them on patient charts, and maintain order and cleanliness in exam and procedure rooms.
- Route patients to proper areas for ancillary testing or follow-up appointments, and review pathology results with patients.
- Setup and tear down sterile fields, prepare surgical trays, and assist surgeons with operative procedures.
- Maintain infection control measures, including proper cleaning of surgical equipment and use of autoclave.
- LPN licensure in the state of practice.
- One year of experience in a healthcare field, preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of medications, including side effects and contraindications.
- Ability to read and review pathology results with patients.
- Knowledge and proficiency of dressing changes and suture removal.
- Assess signs and symptoms of infection and report to surgeon and/or provider.
