About This Role

We are seeking a skilled AutoCAD Drafter to join our team in Sumner, WA. As a CAD Designer, you will be responsible for drafting utility designs based on client standards and requirements. You will work closely with project managers within our engineering department to produce job sketches for utility designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft utility designs overseen by a distribution engineer.
  • Analyze line design data captured in a job workbook to produce job sketches for utility.
  • Convert preliminary designs for facility replacement system upgrades to standardized mapping products in the GIS/CAD mapping environment.
  • Evaluate and improve cartographic processes.
  • Work with specialized mapping assignments and assist newer coworkers in learning specific mapping tasks.
  • Understand and execute as-built mapping.
  • Utilize customer's internal computer programs for job task completion.
  • Manage timelines for job sketch production to ensure timely turnaround by project priority level.
  • Participate in regular training on process updates.
Requirements
  • Associate degree or certificate program from an accredited educational institution is preferred and/or training in lieu of education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Highly motivated, well-organized, resourceful, and proactive with a tenacious and empowering team-oriented style.
  • Ability to be flexible as work priorities often shift and must be reshuffled.
  • Basic knowledge of voltage regulation, electrical load calculations, system protection, and fuse coordination for distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret utility mapping systems and civil construction drawings.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret business periodicals and information, journals, technical procedures, and data.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as those commonly found in business transactions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient in the GIS/CAD software environment and MS Office tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with databases such as Maximo, WebCentral, etc.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and engineering principles.
  • Ability to be flexible, and highly organized with a strong orientation to detail/quality work.
  • Strong interpersonal and speaking skills are required.

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $30.00/Hr. - USD $36.00/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.
