The Department of State Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Inspector III to join our Meat Safety Assurance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting complex inspections, investigations, and quality assurance reviews at establishments with a State grant (permit/license) to perform livestock slaughter and/or meat/poultry processing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and review establishment procedures and implementation to ensure compliance with State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Perform ante-mortem and post-mortem procedures in livestock slaughter establishments and/or monitor/verify processing activities in meat/poultry processing establishments.
- Ensure compliance with humane slaughter requirements and verify establishment's food safety systems.
- Identify and document establishment regulatory noncompliance and evaluate corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Prepare and submit technical reports outlining violations of regulation.
- Under the direct supervision of the Meat Safety Assurance (MSA) Circuit Manager and the general management of the MSA Unit Manager.
- Safe operation of either a state-owned vehicle or personal vehicle is required to conduct state business and an acceptable driving record must be maintained.
- Ability to actively participate and/or serve in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
