Job Summary

To provide safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, as well as expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on the road, reduce vehicle downtime, and improve total fleet reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor fleet technicians to ensure high-quality work and efficient operations.
  • Perform supervisory roles when the fleet supervisor or manager is not accessible.
  • Diagnose and repair complex issues with diesel engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and repairs to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and implement efficient maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with the fleet supervisor or manager to develop and implement maintenance strategies that meet business objectives.
  • Provide clear communication and reporting to the fleet supervisor or manager on a daily basis.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards.
Requirements
  • 2-year school and 4 years of experience or 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
  • 1-year experience in a leadership role (preferred).
  • Heavy Duty truck technical training.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Current and valid driver's license (CDL Preferred, Not Required).
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE certifications & Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (Preferred, Not Required).
  • Mobile Refrigeration (EPA 608) Type II Certification preferred.
  • Mobile Air Conditioning (EPA 609) Certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software for OEM's and component manufacturers.
Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat and extreme cold.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (diesel engine noise and shop equipment).
