We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to assist our financial department with daily accounting operations. This position will involve collaborating with a team of professionals to uphold the accuracy and transparency of financial records. The ideal candidate should be pursuing or have completed a 2-year degree in accounting, possess a strong desire to learn fundamental accounting principles, and demonstrate comfort with numerical data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Maintain daily financial records for each property
  • Review and record property cash receipts
  • Manage cash flow to ensure timely payment of property expenses
  • Process and approve accounts payable
  • Handle tenant changes, payments, and adjustments
  • Provide support to other accountants as needed
  • Assist Property Managers with financial inquiries
  • Collaborate with Property Owners and agents regarding financial information
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations such as MHFA, HUD, and Rural Development
  • Support external auditors and participate in special projects
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual property budgets
  • Maintain organized filing and record-keeping for assigned properties
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a 2-year degree in accounting
  • Familiarity with general accounting practices
  • Proficient in computer applications and software

  • Capability to handle confidential information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of accountability and attention to detail

Additional Requirements

  • Valid US driver's license
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
