Job Summary

University Hospitals is seeking a skilled Environmental Service Worker to join our team. As an Environmental Service Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Environmental Services duties in an effective and efficient manner, completing all steps in the 7 Step Cleaning Process.
  • Keep cleaning carts, equipment, and trash rooms clean and organized, with all cleaning materials properly labeled.
  • Provide positive verbal and non-verbal interactions with patients, families, visitors, and other employees.
  • Assist individuals as needed or find the appropriate individual to provide assistance.
  • Clean offices, patient/resident rooms, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, halls, food service areas, and any other areas that require attention.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office space.
  • Clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows, and window coverings.
  • Empties trash and garbage containers and transports waste with sealed lids to the outside compactor.
  • Replenishes supplies and materials.
  • Moves furniture and sets up tables and chairs.
  • Notifies leaders concerning any need for maintenance repairs or additions.
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
  • Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.
  • Attends training programs required by Cleveland Medical Center (classroom and virtual) as designated and completes all assigned training within the allotted time.
  • May transport and package Regulated Medical Waste and Chemo Waste.
  • May change cubicle curtains and shower curtains.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
