ALS Paramedic MS Transport Specialist

Job Summary
MedStar Health is seeking an experienced ALS Paramedic to join our team. As a key member of our transport team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients with a range of needs during interfacility transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives, adhering to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
- Provide direct patient care, evaluating outcomes and incorporating the principles of patient-centered care.
- Communicate patient clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format, documenting pertinent information in the patient's medical record.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families, providing basic patient comfort measures during procedures.
- Collaborate with on-line medical control physicians to manage the patient care of complex patients in transport.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Successful completion of an approved EMT-Paramedic course required.
- Completion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course prior to release from orientation required.
- NREMT - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic required.
- Paramedic - Certified in the District of Columbia or ability to acquire prior to start date required.
- Paramedic - Licensed in Maryland or ability to acquire prior to start date required.
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required.
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years experience as a National Registry Paramedic (NRP) preferred.
Working Conditions
This position requires a valid State Driver's License in good standing, with no more than four points assigned to the driver's license and a satisfactory driving record (no more than four points). Completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (e.g., CEVO, EVOC) prior to release from orientation is also required.
Salary Information
This position has a hiring range of $45.57.
