As an Electrician at Corewell Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our electrical systems. Under the direction of a supervisor, you will inspect, test, install, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair electrical circuits, appliances, systems, fixtures, and related electrical controls and devices in compliance with all state and local electrical codes requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure all electrical installations meet all elements of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) as required by regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for all electrical equipment, obtaining permits, and performing electrical work as required by law, and functioning as a liaison with external licensed electrical contractors.
- Regularly inspect and evaluate electrical equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely, following recommended maintenance schedules for cleaning and lubricating equipment, and maintaining records on equipment status and maintenance.
- Respond promptly to electrical trouble calls throughout BH, inspecting and repairing varied electrical systems/equipment, including lights, power distribution, fan motors, and the like.
- Perform tests to ensure continuity of the circuit and compatibility and safety of all components using test equipment to locate malfunctions such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and the like.
- Use appropriate tools and other special equipment to measure, cut, bend, thread wire, assemble, and install electrical conduits, junction switches, outlet boxes, and switchboards.
- Study blueprints and schematics and determine methods, materials, personnel, and equipment needed to complete modifications to the electrical system.
- Must be eligible for overtime and can work reasonable extended hours to accomplish priority repairs and to fill in for disaster, vacation, or illness coverage.
- Follow ICRA/PCRA procedures outlined by Epidemiology.
- A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or graduation from a trade or vocational school.
- 3 years of relevant experience or a level of knowledge normally acquired through a three to four-year electrical apprenticeship program.
- 5 years of relevant experience or minimum of five years journeyman experience.
- Requires a demonstrated in-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems and electrical devices such as controls, switches, starters, transformers, motors, and panel boards.
- LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan.
