A-Tek, a leading provider of federal market solutions, is seeking an experienced Director of Newborn Screening Programs to join our team. This role will play a crucial part in supporting genetic and metabolic newborn disorders using advanced instrumentation and technology.

About the Role

This position reports directly to the DCLS Deputy Director and is responsible for providing technical expertise in the development, validation, and implementation of genetic testing and result interpretation for existing and new newborn disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as Subject matter expert and meets CLIA requirements as a Technical Supervisor for the Newborn Screening unit.
  • Provides technical expertise for the development, validation, and implementation of genetic testing and result interpretation for existing and new newborn disorders according to the recommended uniform screening panel (RUSP).
  • Reviews implementation of NBS assays and associated data with program, follow-up, and medical diagnostics partners.
  • Offers consultation regarding laboratory testing methodologies and result interpretation.

The ideal candidate should have a comprehensive knowledge of newborn screening or clinical genetics, knowledge of clinical laboratory science, and experience with grant writing, budget creation, and monitoring.
