Job Summary:
Cameron County is seeking a highly skilled Certifying Authority to join our team. As a key member of our Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our clients. This is a part-time position that requires a strong background in nutrition and public health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate clinical, breastfeeding, and nutrition services to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies and procedures.
- Screen income and residency to assess eligibility for applicants using WIC policies and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of Department of State Health Services and WIC immunization policies and procedures.
- Conduct nutrition education classes for women, infants, and children, and provide individual counseling to participants.
- Assess and issue appropriate nutritional risk codes to qualify clients during certification.
- Participate in nutrition and breastfeeding education trainings to stay current on best practices.
- Collaborate with other health care professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients.
- Develop and evaluate clinic policies and procedures to ensure effective program delivery.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and colleagues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition or a related field.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification.
- Two years of public health experience in a health or college setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
Working Conditions:
This position requires working in a clinic or office setting, with occasional travel to other clinic sites. A valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
