At The Specialty Manufacturing Company, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Continuous Improvement/ Prototype Machinist to join our team. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing floor, with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify operations and material usage on each job, ensuring adherence to standard work and team leader directives.
  • Set up and operate manual or CNC equipment using Quick Change Over (QCO) methodologies, ensuring efficient and effective production processes.
  • Develop and troubleshoot CNC programs on machine control, ensuring accurate and precise part production.
  • Select tools for new jobs and troubleshoot tooling issues on existing jobs, minimizing downtime and improving overall efficiency.
  • Design and implement automated manufacturing production lines using robotics/PLCs, improving productivity and reducing labor costs.
  • Design and implement product testing equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable testing processes.
  • Collaborate with product design engineers to perform DFM analysis, ensuring optimal design for manufacturability.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and production personnel to review and machine assembly tooling fixtures and engineering prototypes.
  • Operate machines and produce consistent quality parts to specifications, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Use measuring devices and blueprints to inspect parts for quality, ensuring adherence to 1st Articles and Quality Plans.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area, adhering to 5S requirements and company safety standards.
Requirements:
  • High School or GED diploma
  • Two-year Machining degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC and/or manual machining experience
  • Solidworks and CADCAM proficiency
