Pipeline Maintenance Technician Role

The Pipeline Maintenance Technician position is a critical role in our operations, responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our pipeline systems. This position works in and around natural gas liquids (NGLs) executing maintenance and logistics activities for Marathon Petroleum. The successful candidate will perform duties such as:

  • Repairing and maintaining API 6D valves, centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, tank equipment, and meters.
  • Troubleshooting problems and working independently in a team environment.
  • Completing duties in accordance with all regulations in support of Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance activities, including:
  • Vibrating monitoring and analysis.
  • Inspecting, installing, and maintaining major/minor relief valves.
  • Complex pump alignment.
  • Lubricant changes.
  • Installing/repairing stainless steel tubing.
  • DOT mainline inspections.
  • Flange bolting and assembly.
  • Valve actuator maintenance.
  • Maintaining bi-directional provers.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate maintenance activities.
  • Respond to breakdowns and field callouts as part of rotational on-call support.
  • Generate computerized work requests for maintenance tasks.
  • Perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in a related technical field preferred but not required.
  • Self-motivated and organized approach to routine work.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Previous pipeline experience highly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to pass a general background check and a Motor Vehicle Background check.
