As a Pharmacy Technician at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in providing exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include reviewing prescription orders, locating medications, preparing and packaging prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Fill prescriptions by retrieving the correct medication from inventory and assist in dispensing prescriptions by pouring liquids, mixing suspensions, and counting prefabricated dosage units.
- Assist pharmacists with entering prescription information into the electronic record and submit claims to insurance companies for payment.
- Maintain electronic records related to patient profiles, insurance, and new, transferred, or discontinued prescriptions.
- Bill insurance and/or customers for prescriptions and merchandise and resolve questions and/or insurance rejections through proper channels.
- Follow all procedures for documenting and dispensing controlled substances and handle them in a manner that ensures accountability and security.
- Assure medications are available for patients by assisting in inventory control, including ordering, checking in orders, stocking shelves, updating the computerized inventory system, rotating stock, processing recalls, and conducting routine inspections of all areas where drugs are stored in the pharmacy.
- Provide customer service by greeting and acknowledging every customer, being knowledgeable of merchandise, and assisting customers within the pharmacy.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, other staff, and ancillary departments and maintain high standards of confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No experience required.
As a Pharmacy Technician at SSM Health, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a team of dedicated professionals. You will be required to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
