Coroner Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Coroner Technician to join our team at the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. As a Coroner Technician, you will assist forensic pathologists with autopsy examinations, prepare bodies for examination, and maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the morgue.

• Assist with autopsy examinations, including preparing bodies and collecting specimens
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the morgue, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces
• Prepare medical-legal evidence for submission to law enforcement agencies
• Identify and release bodies to families and next of kin
• Perform a variety of clerical tasks, including data entry and record-keeping

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• 30 semester or 45 quarter units in natural science, Emergency Medical Technology, Paramedicine, or other coursework in a field related to the intent of the class
• One year of full-time experience, paid or volunteer, assisting pathologists in performing autopsies
• Ability to lift and move bodies weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively

As a Coroner Technician, you will work in a morgue environment, which may involve exposure to biological and chemical agents, as well as unpleasant odors and sights. You will also be required to work irregular shifts, including weekends and holidays.
