Qualified candidates should demonstrate strong initiative, oversee safety protocols on projects involving traffic control, and ensure proper documentation of construction methods and contractor operations to verify adherence to plans and specifications.

Ideal candidates will have experience in engineering or construction management with state Departments of Transportation (DOTs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Possess a solid understanding of Civil Engineering principles and Construction Methods, Materials, and Equipment, including state DOT Standards and Specifications.
  • Ability to interpret, explain, and manage state DOT contracts.
  • Analyze construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications.
  • Train, coordinate, and supervise junior staff.
  • Efficiently plan and utilize resources, consistently seeking cost-reduction strategies, creating accurate budgets, and tracking financials.
  • Identify and cultivate project opportunities for new and expanded services for both new and existing clients.
  • Adhere to all federal and state regulations, client requirements, and company policies, including taxes, labor laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Establish project goals, milestones, and procedures, define roles and responsibilities, acquire necessary resources, and monitor project progress across multiple initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong attention to detail and accuracy, committed to continuous improvement and quality assurance.
Additional Duties:
  • Provide oversight for state DOT on federally funded projects.
  • Operate with a high degree of independence and initiative.
  • Ensure accurate project documentation, including daily work quantities, project events, and correspondence.
  • Review and recommend acceptance of change proposals and provide impartial interpretations of contract documents.
  • Communicate effectively with project personnel, clients, municipal representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise assigned employees to ensure compliance with documentation and testing requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic documentation software.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in state DOT construction inspection and management.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred, but extensive project experience may be considered in lieu of licensure.
  • Valid state Driver's License.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and navigate challenging terrains.
