Air Compressor Technician

Air Compressor Technician will be responsible for the hands-on operation, maintenance, monitoring, and repairs of industrial air compressors and the compressed air system on a large campus. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of air compressor operation and compressed air system operation.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot problems with compressors and diagnose and perform repairs on air compressor auxiliary components such as unloader valves, heat exchangers, oil temperature control valves, oil hoses, temperature and pressure sensors, etc.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, including monitoring equipment operation, oil changes, oil filters, air filters, belts, oil sampling, and record keeping.
- Operate and maintain air compressors, including centrifugal compressors, screw compressors, and reciprocating compressors.
- Work with vendors to order parts and maintain spare parts stock.
- Communicate with team members and management to ensure effective maintenance and repair of the compressed air system.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of experience in building maintenance or a related trade preferred.
- Knowledge of air compressor operation and compressed air system operation.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as load balancing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to loud environments, moving mechanical parts, and heights up to 12 feet. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as very cold and uncomfortable heat while inside and out of the facility.
