We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Lead to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our Primary Care Service Line, you will be responsible for providing exceptional medical care to our nation's Veterans.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and record history and physical examinations, and enter data from clinic visits into the computerized medical record.
- Evaluate, consult, develop diagnosis, and manage the primary care panel of patients assigned.
- Provide medical care encompassing acute and chronic medical conditions, and all appropriate preventive care for both male and female Veterans.
- Order diagnostic tests, medications, laboratory tests as medically relevant for each patient.
- Provide timely follow-up on results and patient inquiries, including completion of view alerts, secure messages, and other patient communications.
- Determine medical assessment and develop treatment plans according to accepted protocols.
- Prescribe medications according to approved formulary, and in accordance with Federal and State Law.
- Educate patients concerning medical conditions and recommended treatments.
- Consult other specialties as appropriate, according to service agreements.
- Serve as first-level supervisor of primary care providers (MD, NP, PA) at the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
- Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year, and possible 5-day paid absence for CME).
- Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
- Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
