Cake Decorator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cake Decorator to join our team at O&H Danish Bakery. As a Cake Decorator, you will be responsible for creating visually appealing cakes and other baked goods that meet our high standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Decorate and Build Cakes: Use your creativity and attention to detail to decorate and build custom cakes and other treats as specified by order slips.
  • Knowledge of Decorating Techniques: Be knowledgeable of building and decorating techniques, and familiar with pricing and quality standards of various cake orders and decorating styles.
  • Use of Decorating Tools: Use specific decorating tools, including various knives, to create intricate designs and patterns.
  • Maintain a Clean and Safe Work Environment: Maintain a clean and clear workspace, and follow proper bakery department, safety, and security procedures and standards.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures: Follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines as it refers to proper technique and quality.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize all equipment required by this position, and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
  • Assist with Other Bakery Duties: Assist with other bakery duties as needed, and assist in other departments as necessary.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Provide prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers.
  • Effective Communication: Demonstrate good communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and be able to work effectively with a variety of personalities and individuals.
  • Attention to Detail: Possess a keen eye for detail, and be able to create and follow recipes with accuracy.
  • Professional Behavior: Display a professional behavior towards others, and be proactive in identifying problems, finding solutions, and making sound decisions.
  • Multi-Tasking and Time Management: Be able to multi-task and adhere to deadlines while working independently, and be organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively.

Requirements: Must be able to ice and construct sixteen 7" cakes per hour within six months, and twelve quarter sheet cakes per hour within six months, to the O&H style of acceptable artistry.
