Job Summary

As a Toolmaker Machinist at S&C Electric Company, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our machining function. This position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about machining and has the ability to set up and operate metal cutting and finishing machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deburring of parts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Inspection of parts using inspection instruments.
  • Handling of various lubricants.
  • Identifying need for and changing dull cutting tools.
  • Enrollment and successful completion of courses offered at S&C Continuous Improvement Institute.

Requirements:
  • Ability to set up and operate metal cutting and finishing machinery.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow specific written instructions and procedures.
  • A basic knowledge of measuring equipment.
  • A working knowledge of shop math.

Physical Demands:
  • Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of components ranging from 5 lbs. to 50 lbs.
  • Walking: Frequent walking short distances from job to job throughout the plant.
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of bulky items weighing up to 35 lbs. short distances.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Use of manual tools or hand trucks to occasionally move skids short distances.
  • Bending: Occasional bending required to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Reaching: Frequent reaching to load and unload parts from fixture in machine or tubs.
