The Dental Hygienist at Signature Family Dentistry plays a vital role in preventive oral healthcare, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to prevent gum disease while educating patients about maintaining their oral health.
- We offer a competitive salary with estimated earnings ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
This is a full-time position working 32 hours a week with varying shifts including Mondays and Wednesdays: 8:15 AM – 4:00 PM, Tuesdays and Thursdays: 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM, and every 3rd Friday of the month: 8:15 AM – 2:00 PM.
Essential Duties:- Record treatment details on patient charts, including treatments rendered, plans for future treatments, and time requirements for the next visit.
- Take radiographs as directed by the dentist.
- Document periodontal conditions, occlusal relations, and prophylaxis findings for a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Escort patients to and from the treatment room, providing excellent customer service.
- Administer Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen to patients when applicable.
- Apply non-aerosol and non-caustic topical agents, as well as pit and fissure sealants.
- Remove excess cement from supragingival surfaces.
- Assist the dentist during clinical exams and record findings/recommendations.
- Perform oral cancer screenings for all patients.
- Scale, polish, and apply fluoride to teeth.
- Prepare treatment rooms: set up, decontaminate, sterilize/sharpen instruments, clean equipment, and restock supplies.
- Inspect and chart oral cavities for lesions, restorations, and missing teeth.
- Evaluate oral tissues and gingival health.
- Perform root planing and Myofunctional evaluations.
- Educate patients on oral disease prevention, bacteria's role, and proper home care, providing educational materials and instructions.
- Clean restorations and appliances, such as partials and dentures.
- Schedule follow-up appointments or coordinate scheduling with front office staff.
- Manage and monitor the recall system, contacting patients overdue for visits.
- Other duties as assigned.
