Job Title: Maintenance Repairer

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Repairer to join our team at the City of West Allis, WI. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the City's infrastructure, including streets, sewers, and other public facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in building and cleaning sanitary sewers, storm sewers, manholes, and catch basins
  • Operate trucks and other equipment common to construction/maintenance activities
  • Perform rough masonry work, including setting forms for sidewalks, curbs, and pavement
  • Conduct concrete finishing and laboring tasks
  • Repair, install, and terminate storm and sewer laterals
  • Patch streets, alleys, other pavements, curbs, and sidewalks
  • Remove roots, debris, and other refuse from clogged sewer lines
  • Install, remove, and replace knives and perform minor running repairs on equipment
Requirements:
  • High school graduate/equivalent and two (2) years of recent paid work experience in finishing concrete, street and/or sewer construction, maintenance work
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License and an acceptable driving record per City Policy
  • Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (Class B, C with airbrakes) and Tanker (N) endorsement within one year of appointment
  • Good knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment commonly used in public works construction and maintenance work
  • Ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks and to interpret work from rough sketches or penciled layouts
