Shift: As needed, office hours are Monday - Thursday 8 AM - 5 PM / Friday 8 AM - 12 PM
Role Overview: The Pediatric and Adult Cardiology Sonographer will be responsible for conducting echocardiograms for patients in the pediatric cardiology department. This role involves assisting the Pediatric Cardiologist in obtaining sonographic images and their interpretation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct transthoracic echocardiograms for pediatric cardiology patients, ensuring high-quality imaging.
- Record essential patient metrics such as weight, height, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, adapting to the patient's condition.
- Evaluate sonographic images for technical quality, ensuring proper labeling and patient identification, while demonstrating all relevant anatomy.
- Assist with accreditation processes, including documentation and formal reviews of echocardiograms alongside physician evaluations.
- Adhere to established laboratory protocols for echocardiography, utilizing various imaging techniques as appropriate.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients and their families to foster cooperation and optimize test outcomes.
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of one of the following:
- Two years in an Allied Health Education Program with one year of practical echocardiography training, OR
- Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited sonography program, OR
- A minimum of ten years' experience in Pediatric Echocardiography with current credentials in Pediatric Echocardiography or Congenital Cardiac Sonography.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS) in Adult or Pediatric Echocardiography, or equivalent credentials from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- CPR/BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in performing fetal echocardiography.
- Five years of experience in pediatric echocardiography.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Fetal Echocardiography.
