Overview

The Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as a qualified member of the Professional Nursing Organization, engaging in independent practice guided by the core principles of practitioner, leader, scientist, and educator. This role is essential in employing the nursing process to deliver evidence-based care while consistently monitoring and assessing practices to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient population served.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practitioner
  • Employs the nursing process to evaluate, diagnose, set outcomes, plan, implement, and assess a personalized care strategy.
  • Utilizes analytical skills to foresee and identify changes in patient conditions, taking necessary actions to adjust care plans or escalate concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics, advocating for patients' rights, supporting their autonomy in decision-making, ensuring informed consent, and assisting patients and families in expressing their preferences.
  • Seeks constructive feedback and actively works on enhancing performance.
  • Participates in the governance of nursing practice.
  • Leader
  • Manages relationships effectively, both personally and professionally.
  • Guides colleagues to foster the growth of nursing practice and the profession.
  • Takes responsibility and accountability for patient care while appropriately delegating tasks to other members of the healthcare team in compliance with relevant laws and policies.

  • Actively pursues the latest evidence and standards, applying them to daily nursing practice.

  • Mentors nursing students, nurse externs, nurse residents, experienced clinical nurses, and other healthcare team members.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with at least one year of experience.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a minimum of two years of experience.
  • All ADN-prepared nurses must commit to obtaining a BSN or higher nursing degree within ten years of their hire date.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse with eligibility in New Hampshire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire, with higher-level certifications as applicable per unit requirements.
  • ACLS certification is mandatory upon hire for specific units.
