Job Summary

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to fill the position of RMD Coordinator. This role is responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with Reusable Medical Devices (RMD) processes within the organization, adhering to the guidelines of governing bodies such as IAHCSMM, AORN, and VHA directives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical knowledge and expertise in the processing of critical, semi-critical, and non-critical Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) according to manufacturers' instructions for use (IFU).
  • Assume responsibility for all functions within the RMD Program, ensuring the clinical and administrative appropriateness of services delivered.
  • Collaborate with other personnel to ensure that all staff understand the clinical evidence and reasoning behind changes affecting the RMD Program.
  • Provide oversight of compliance with directives and guidance relating to RMD.
  • Develop and implement quality management and reprocessing activities, including training, competency assessment, and development of SOPs based on manufacturers' IFU.
Requirements
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: ACEN or CCNE.
  • English Language Proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Basic Life Support provider card issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).
  • Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor card preferred (issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).
  • MS/Nursing Education or MSN/Education; Masters degree in health-related field.
Working Conditions

The RMD Coordinator will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various personnel to ensure compliance with RMD processes. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm. Telework and virtual work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The selected candidate will be required to complete an online onboarding process and pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program and COVID-19 vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
