The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking applications from board-certified or board-eligible Interventional Pain Medicine Physicians to enhance our expanding program. The selected candidate will receive an academic rank and appointment track that reflects their qualifications and experience.

Position Overview:

  • Become part of a collaborative department comprising over 60 Anesthesiologists, including three specialists in Pain Medicine.
  • Provide clinical services within a vibrant outpatient Interventional Pain management setting, which includes consultation and procedural clinics.
  • Formulate comprehensive treatment strategies for both new and returning patients, addressing specific conditions and individual needs to effectively reduce pain and enhance functionality.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of specialists in Neuromusculoskeletal medicine, including Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, Internal Medicine, and various subspecialties.
  • Outpatient therapy services are delivered by dedicated therapists specializing in neuro and musculoskeletal pain.
  • Practice in a cutting-edge Clinic and Surgery Center situated on the main campus.
  • This role will involve responsibilities in the operating room, with preference for candidates skilled in regional anesthesia techniques.
  • Enjoy an excellent work-life balance with a 1:10 call schedule that may include regional service, operating room duties, or pain management.
  • Participate in educational opportunities with residents and fellows, including a pain management fellowship and ASA-endorsed simulation center.

About the Department:

Our mission in the Department of Anesthesiology is straightforward: we aim to alleviate pain, enhance patient outcomes, and train the next generation of anesthesiologists. We foster a culture of inquiry, where optimal medical practices are established through clinical and scientific methodologies as well as translational research.

Requirements:

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology with fellowship training in Pain Medicine.
  • Competency in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar epidural/facet injections, advanced interventional pain techniques, spine RFA, and radiographic imaging is essential. Expertise in SCS and Ultrasound is advantageous but not required.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota, meeting the necessary criteria for credentialing and privileges.
  • Eligibility to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services while maintaining legal status according to VISA requirements.
