We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Systems Modeling Engineer to join our team at Trane Technologies. As a key member of our Model & Simulation Network of Excellence, you will be responsible for developing and deploying models at the system level, including HVAC equipment, building energy models, and Distributed Energy Resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy models to analyze and optimize building energy systems, including HVAC equipment and Distributed Energy Resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate modeling results into product design and development.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of HVAC equipment operation, building energy management systems, and thermal energy storage.
- Apply advanced modeling techniques, including data science, predictive modeling, and surrogate modeling, to optimize building energy performance.
- Participate in long-term technology roadmap development discussions and identify opportunities for external funding and partnerships.
Requirements:
- 6+ months of experience in HVAC systems modeling, building energy management systems, or HVAC equipment and controls.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink or Modelica-based system modeling.
- Familiarity with data science, predictive modeling, and surrogate modeling techniques.
- Knowledge of thermal energy storage and its application in HVAC system modeling.
- Experience with building modeling software, such as Energy Plus/TRACE 3D+.
- Practical experience in closed-loop control and multi-variable control.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
