Job Summary

Weis Markets is seeking a highly skilled Energy Efficiency Specialist to join our team. As an Energy Efficiency Specialist, you will play a critical role in helping us reduce our energy consumption and lower our carbon footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze energy use reports to identify areas of improvement in facility operations, including lighting schedules, HVAC setpoints, and setbacks.
  • Conduct surveys of store conditions and equipment to create a database for energy control activities.
  • Develop and implement measurement tools and programs to monitor energy usage and identify sites requiring mediation.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and ideas to control energy usage, and monitor results.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of energy reports.
  • Interrogate Energy Management Systems (EMS) to identify deficiencies and implement corrective action.
  • Develop training plans to promote energy control at the store level.
  • Assist in the startup of EMS, including verification of input points, output points, set points, and strategies.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of energy management tools used to evaluate energy management projects and monitor resultant savings.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems, including electrical and control devices.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments common to the trade.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations for the supermarket industry.
  • Knowledge and practice of safe work habits, including knowledge of MSDS, OSHA, equipment safety, and tool safety.
  • Knowledge of commercial utility billing.
  • Knowledge of new and emerging trends in the area of energy efficiency.
  • Knowledge of energy conversion calculations.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work under pressure of time, without direct supervision.
  • Available for occasional overtime work and/or emergencies.
  • Significant portions of the workday may be spent on the computer.
