High School English Language Arts Teacher

Uncommon Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate English Language Arts teacher to join our team. As a teacher at Uncommon, you will be responsible for creating a engaging and rigorous classroom culture that prepares students for college and beyond.
Responsibilities
Teach from a robust literature curriculum that prioritizes inclusive texts and emphasizes diversity.
Conduct a deep exploration of daily content to guide students in analyzing books by renowned authors such as James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, and William Shakespeare.
Develop students' independent and collaborative reading, writing, and discussion skills.
Facilitate student-led discourse, teaching students to use evidence to make sophisticated claims and to synthesize and evaluate arguments and rhetoric.

Preferred Qualifications
A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred).
Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or other related fields of study.
Prior to the start of employment, you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Compensation for this position:
The starting compensation for this role is between $56,000 to $77,000.
