Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves the operation of heavy machinery utilized for earth moving, grading, and the application of various materials such as concrete and asphalt. The primary focus will be on residential construction projects, particularly in mountainous regions and residential communities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor adjustments on machinery.
  • Understand and execute tasks involving trenching, excavating, loading, leveling, rough grading, and finishing.
  • Familiarize oneself with excavation plans and adhere to safe digging practices.
  • Follow hand signals and markings to ensure operations meet specified requirements.
  • Utilize machinery for tasks such as backfilling, rock or concrete breaking, and material movement.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
  • At least 5 years of experience operating heavy machinery on residential construction sites.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic understanding of reading blueprints and grade stakes.
  • Knowledge of structural excavation and backfill processes.
  • Familiarity with water and sanitary utility systems, including septic systems.
  • Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment.
  • Willingness to engage in physical labor alongside machinery operation.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

MECHANICAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Mechanical aptitude for understanding machines and tools.
  • Mathematical skills for operational precision.
  • Ability to monitor operations and maintain control precision.
  • Good depth perception and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Capacity to manage a high volume of work and multitask in a dynamic environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work will be conducted outdoors in various weather conditions, with exposure to the elements.
