We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technology Faculty to join our team at Daytona State College. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of assigned employees in the Phlebotomy Department.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned employees in the Phlebotomy Department.
- Provide logistical leadership and training to all team members.
- Responsible for the collection, processing, accessioning and waived testing of blood, urine and other samples from Patient Service Centers (PSC's) and other collection sites.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute Guidelines.
- Supervise departmental activities/staffing assignments to maintain a high quality of work.
- Monitor work activities to improve efficiency.
- Evaluate specimen collection/processing to ensure quality/integrity.
- Prepare various qualitative and quantitative reports and records.
- Approve payroll submissions and PTO requests.
- Maintain attendance records.
- Review current literature to keep informed of new developments in the field.
- Support Education Department personnel/trainers and/or designee in the training/orientation of new staff members.
- Participate in CSI and continuing education programs.
- Strive to improve communications within the Phlebotomy Department.
- Coordinate new business with the Sales Department.
- High school diploma or GED with 5 years of phlebotomy and/or related experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Outlook e-mail.
