This position plays a critical role in identifying issues and providing solutions to optimize the quality of fiber network designs, installations, and performance. The role also involves testing, inspection, and documentation to guarantee that all work meets the required standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures for fiber optic installations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as TIA/EIA, ITU, and IEEE.
  • Perform quality checks on materials used, such as fiber optic cables, connectors, and network equipment.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to review plans and ensure the quality of network designs before implementation.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect fiber optic installations (cabling, splicing, termination) for adherence to project specifications.
  • Monitor and audit the installation process to detect deviations from standards.
  • Test fiber optic networks using equipment such as OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers), power meters, and light sources to ensure signal integrity and proper functioning.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to fiber losses, attenuation, or breakage.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of testing results, installation inspections, and non-conformance reports.
  • Provide detailed feedback and recommendations to field teams and project managers regarding QC findings.
  • Generate reports and analysis on the quality performance of the fiber installation projects.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with field technicians, contractors, and clients to address quality issues and enforce corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to installation crews to improve work quality.
  • Ensure all quality assurance and control procedures are understood and followed across all teams.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure that all installations comply with local regulations, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits to ensure a safe working environment during installations and testing activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications in fiber optic technologies (e.g., FOA, BICSI, CFOT).
  • Experience in fiber optic network design, installation, splicing, and testing.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, including signal loss, attenuation, and network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with OTDR, optical power meters, and other fiber testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for fiber optic network construction and maintenance.
  • Attention to detail and ability to conduct thorough inspections and tests.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting and collaboration with teams.
