Job Title: Staff Engineer Software

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer Software to join our team in Melbourne, Florida. As a Staff Engineer Software, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software
  • Determine computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls
  • Ensure software standards are met
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 or more years of experience in software engineering
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 12 or more years of experience in software engineering or a PhD with 10 or more years software engineering experience
  • In-depth knowledge of network engineer software tools and coding languages
  • Experience in Systems programming, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS
  • Development experience with C/C++ or other OOP languages
  • Experience developing and debugging software in a Linux and Windows environment
  • Experience with configuration management using industry standard tools and processes
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, plugins, Git, and Confluence
  • Active certification at DOD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g. Security+) or greater
  • Experience developing lab simulation software
  • Clearance: Candidate must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 15 or more years of relevant experience
  • Active DoD Top-Secret clearance
  • Experience with a scripting language (e.g. Bash, Python)
  • Experience with Firewall, VPN, switch, and router configuration
