Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Garrett County Public Schools. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a critical role in providing speech and language services to students with identified speech problems or those referred for speech language evaluation.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide speech/language assessment for students referred by the IEP Team and/or Infants and Toddlers Program.
  • Attend IEP/IFSP meetings for students with identified speech problems or those referred for speech/language evaluation.
  • Serve as a case manager of the IEP for students with speech/language disability.
  • Schedule and implement therapy for identified students.
  • Maintain open communication with all staff, related service members, parents, and students.
  • Develop and implement the IEP/IFSP for those students with identified speech/language problems.
  • Maintain up-to-date special education files for all students with speech/language problems.
  • Coordinate school program with the home.
  • Maintain all needed forms and records as required by the school and program policy and procedure.
  • Develop and provide needed professional development.
  • Maintain a Maryland State certification in speech language pathology.
  • Provide services in various settings, including Head Start centers, homes, private daycares, schools, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Serve on committees, as necessary.
  • Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Account for and order program equipment and supplies, as necessary.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff/faculty meetings and appropriate job-related professional development.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree or equivalency in speech language pathology.
  • Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene license or be eligible for a provisional license.
  • Successful completion of a required criminal, drug, and tuberculosis screenings.
  • Provide proof of United States citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable daily transportation.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in a variety of technology and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Successful management of confidential information and materials.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple and concurrent tasks while experiencing frequent interruptions.
  • History of professionalism and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to meet intensive deadlines.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model in the work place and within the community.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control while addressing stressful situations.
  • Ability to work prolonged and irregular hours, as necessary.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, feel, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, push, pull and carry.
  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects averaging 50-70 lbs.
  • Good hearing, vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Significant dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job either with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral Degree in applicable field.
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with elementary, middle, or high school level students.
