Position Title: Grounds Maintenance Technician

Compensation: Based on experience

Role Summary

This role necessitates a fundamental understanding of landscape management, turf care, and property maintenance, along with proficient equipment operation. The individual will work under the supervision of the Crew Leader and Maintenance Production Manager, undertaking various responsibilities including but not limited to:


• Operating walk-behind and handheld machinery for mowing, edging, and trimming


• Utilizing different sizes of power mowers for effective lawn care


• Employing a gas-powered backpack blower for debris removal


• Using a gas-powered edger/trimmer for precise trimming and edging


• Shaping and enhancing shrub and tree growth by trimming with shears, pruners, or gas-powered hedge trimmers


• Excavating and relocating substantial amounts of soil or debris with shovels and hand tools


• Planting seasonal flowers and plants


• Administering chemicals or fertilizers as required


• Conducting minor irrigation repairs


• Collecting leaves, litter, and cut grass, then loading them onto burlap for transport


• Weeding by hand or with a garden hoe


• Managing various plant materials effectively


• Maintaining cleanliness in workshop areas, garages, restrooms, and parking lots through sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing


• Loading and unloading vehicles; relocating supplies and materials to designated areas. Assisting in moving and arranging heavy office furniture, equipment, or supplies as necessary.


• Executing additional grounds maintenance tasks or other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

Physical Requirements


• Must possess full mobility in both upper and lower body to perform various tasks, including but not limited to stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting, and walking for extended durations.


• Capability to handle and operate powered equipment safely.


• Ability to lift and transport heavy items weighing up to 80 lbs or more.

Qualifications


• Effective communication skills with team leaders and crew members. Bilingual in English and Spanish is advantageous.


• A valid driver's license from Missouri or Kansas is preferred but not mandatory.
