Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Academic Development Specialist to join our team at Sylvan Learning.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on students' lives by providing individualized instruction in a small group setting. As an Academic Development Specialist, you will be responsible for adapting your teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of our students, including those with English language learners and neurodivergent students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Delivery: Provide personalized instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, and other subjects as needed, utilizing technology such as iPads to enhance learning experiences and document student progress.
  • Adaptation and Differentiation: Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of students with diverse learning backgrounds, ensuring each student remains engaged and supported.
  • Student Support: Engage students in a 3:1 setting, offering feedback to students and parents, and participating in regular training and professional development sessions.
  • Learning Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that respects and values each student's background and abilities.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Teaching Certification: Preferred but not required.
  • Candidate Qualities: Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying academic abilities, proficiency in adapting curriculum and using hands-on materials, comfort with using technology in the classroom, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
What We Offer
