Retail Custodian Job Description

The Retail Custodian is a vital member of the CIEDA team, responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our dining and food service facilities. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensure the interior and exterior areas of the diner, deli, and other food service facilities are clean and well-maintained.
  • Reporting Relationship: Report directly to the General Manager and maintain open communication to ensure seamless operations.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Provide exceptional customer service by creating a welcoming environment.
    • Maintain an adequate inventory to meet daily needs and promote sales volume.
    • Collaborate with management to communicate customer and employee requests and stay informed of operating procedures.
    • Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, showers, public areas, and office spaces.
    • Dust and clean high and low areas, including surfaces and blinds.
    • Store and use equipment and cleaning solutions safely and efficiently.
    • Remove and dispose of discarded materials and transport trash to designated areas.
    • Arrange furniture and equipment for special promotions.
    • Ensure the physical condition of the premises is safe and healthy.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of verifiable related employment experience or a combination of education and experience required.
  • Skills: Well-organized, reliable, and responsible individual with the ability to prioritize tasks and follow instructions.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to walk, climb stairs, stand, bend, and carry items weighing 50-80 pounds.
  • Other Requirements: Valid state driver's license or state ID, willingness to work outside in inclement weather, and ability to comply with CIEDA Personnel Policies and Procedures.
