We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Urology team at the University of California San Diego Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care, navigate complex healthcare systems, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including phone symptom triage, appointment scheduling, referral assessment, care coordination, and pre/post hospital and procedural follow-up.
- Assist with in-clinic procedures, nurse visits, and patient management needs in the clinical area.
- Provide coverage for sick calls, vacation, and messaging coverage for the urology clinic team.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal care for patients and families in a busy outpatient urology clinic.
- Exercise independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- RN license issued by the State of California.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Minimum of three (3) years active RN experience.
- Ability to perform triage and handle critical and/or urgent situations with accuracy, expediency, and tact.
- Recent experience with urology nursing skills, such as catheter management, bladder irrigations, injections, assessments, and procedure setup.
- BSN.
- ACLS and/or ART.
- Ambulatory care experience.
- Previous telephone triage experience.
- Acute care experience: med/surg, ED.
- AIDET or other customer service training experience.
This position will be split between telephone triage and hands-on nursing care in the clinic. The RN will also provide coverage for sick calls, vacation, and messaging coverage for the urology clinic team. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills.
