Skilled Psychiatric Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Bel Aire Recovery Center works under the supervision of a qualified professional nurse to provide high-quality patient care. Key responsibilities include participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, as well as collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities:- Graduation from an approved LPN program is required.
- Prior experience in the clinical area of service provided by the facility is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures are essential.
- The ability to apply nursing standards and practice within a recovery setting is crucial.
- A valid current practical/vocational nursing license from the state or a nurse compact state, where applicable, is required.
- CPR and de-escalation certification are required, with training available upon hire.
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
- Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients, ensuring client safety and following unit and facility policies and procedures.
- Assists in relevant health and psychiatric teaching for patients and family members, serving as a role model for clients and peers.
- Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans and nursing care.
- Effectively communicates with the medical staff, receives verbal/written orders, and takes care to minimize abbreviation or other errors.
- Participates in team conferences, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas among team members.
- Prepares, administers, controls, and accurately records medications in accordance with facility policy.
- Observes, documents, and communicates with/reports to the RN in charge any clinical, physical, unit, or personnel issues that could alter client care.
- Reports status changes and concerns to registered nurses and doctors, communicating with all departments as needed to ensure total quality client care.
- Consults, follows, and documents nursing care according to facility policy and procedures, recording client symptoms, responses, and progress concisely, accurately, and completely.
- Safely and accurately performs vital signs, electrocardiograms, phlebotomy/labs, and diabetic/glucose monitoring, interpreting results and taking appropriate nursing action.
- Provides coverage in emergency services as needed.
