Patient Access Representative II

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative II to join our team at Northwest Community Hospital. As a key member of our patient access department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and admission process for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Verify patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accurate registration and billing
- Collect and process patient payments, including non-covered fees and copays
- Register and pre-register patients for outpatient services, including laboratory and cancer services
- Interact with patients and their representatives to collect and interpret required demographic, insurance, financial, and clinical data
- Offer and schedule interpreter services for patients as needed
- Obtain and scan general consent for treatment, identification, and insurance cards, as well as Coordination of Benefits and other appropriate documents
- Initiate the Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) and explain payer policies to patients
- Streamline the check-in process for pre-registered patients and update accounts for changes identified upon arrival
- Review physician orders for compliance with regulatory agencies and NCH policies
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to provide timely resolution to third-party payer requirements
- Minimize third-party payer denials by verifying authorization of service prior to forwarding patients to service delivery areas
- Maintain current knowledge of insurance requirements and communicate effectively with service delivery areas
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years of customer service work experience required
- Minimum 1 year experience in a healthcare patient access department or hospital required
- Previous healthcare experience with regulatory compliance requirements, payer requirements, HIPAA privacy and security requirements, and general revenue cycle procedures required
