Psychiatric Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Nurse Specialist to join our team in Rapid City, South Dakota. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate nurse to provide high-quality care to patients with mental health issues.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with psychiatric problems. They will be responsible for administering and monitoring psychotropic medications, collaborating with medical providers and mental health staff, and assisting patients and their families to interpret and manage maladaptive behaviors.
Key Responsibilities- Assessing Mental Health Status: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with behavioral challenges to identify their mental health needs.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with medical providers and mental health staff to design and deliver patient care that meets their unique needs.
- Medication Management: Administer and monitor the effectiveness and side effects of psychotropic medications, making adjustments as necessary.
- Patient Education and Support: Assist patients and their families to understand and manage maladaptive behaviors, promoting healthy lifestyle changes.
- Active RN License: A current and active registered nurse license is required.
- Degree from Accredited Nursing Program: A degree from an accredited nursing program is essential.
- BLS Certifications: Basic Life Support certifications are necessary.
- Experience in Acute Care Psychiatric Setting: At least 18 months of recent experience in an acute care psychiatric setting is required.
