About the Role

This on-site, full-time position at our Plymouth, MI Headquarters offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and 401(k) matching program. As an AP Specialist, you'll be responsible for managing accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment of vendors, while supporting Accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process vendor invoices for multiple entities
  • Understand inter-company transactional processes
  • Match shipping documents with vendor invoices; identify discrepancies to resolve issues
  • Process miscellaneous invoices, assigning general ledger codes and jobs correctly
  • Prepare and submit supplier waivers
  • Review monthly vendor statements for missing invoices, reconcile vendor accounts
  • Prepare credit card statements for posting and processing
  • Monitor and ensure timely payment of all vendor invoices
  • Maintain supplier database, including new vendor setup and W-9 collection
  • Process 1099s and filings
  • Prepare tax exemption certificates
  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, resolve discrepancies or issues
  • Reconcile AP ledger accounts, ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Collaborate with internal departments for proper coding and compliance
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within AP
  • Maintain accounts payable files
  • Perform standard accounting and office support tasks
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries effectively and professionally

Requirements:

  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize effectively
  • Must be reliable, meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Must maintain confidentiality and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry, advanced Excel understanding
  • Highly motivated, able to multitask
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong integrity, leadership, problem-solving skills
  • Active participation in a team environment
  • Prolonged sitting required
  • Occasional lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 10 lbs
  • Construction industry experience a plus

Qualifications:

  • At least 1-2 years of AP experience
  • Associate's degree in Accounting or Business – required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP processes
  • Accounting software proficiency
  • Sales and Use Tax experience a plus
  • CPA firm experience preferred
  • Experience overseeing cost control systems, interpreting trends and developing analysis

Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 per year, based on experience.
