Job Description:
The Coppin State University College of Business invites applications for a Senior Lecturer position in Accounting, commencing Spring 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Instructing undergraduate students in introductory accounting courses, including financial and managerial accounting.
  • Assisting in the growth of the accounting program and increasing public awareness of its existence through fostering relationships with professionals to enhance the coursework and department.
  • Developing and continually assessing the curriculum to produce graduates who meet the employment criteria for accounting positions.
  • Embracing new instructional and programmatic technologies.
  • Advising students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability and commitment to teaching and recruiting students, advising student organizations, making intellectual contributions to the field, professional service, professional development, and meeting the instructional standards of the department, school, and university. They should demonstrate proficiency in the methods of delivery of course content, including traditional classroom-based, completely online, and hybrid modalities. The successful candidate will also participate in departmental, college, and university committees.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate courses in accounting, day, evening, and online.
  • Student Engagement - advising, motivating, and assisting students academically inside and outside the classroom.
  • Function in Department, Division, and University committees to interact and interface with CSU faculty, staff, and students to expand the intrinsic interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary aspect of accounting.
  • Assist with recruitment and retention of accounting students.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • MBA/MS in Accounting.
  • Professional certifications (i.e. CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Academic experience or three years of experience in the industry is preferred. New doctoral graduates are welcome to apply.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Familiarity with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Possess necessary skills to use Intuit QuickBooks, Sage Business Cloud Accounting and AccountEdge Pro.
