About the Role

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Rapid City, South Dakota. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Diagnose and repair minor mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as inspecting and replacing air filters, spark plugs, and belts
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks and trailers
  • Perform facility maintenance duties, such as cleaning and organizing the shop area
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Basic tools, required
  • One (1) year or more experience in transportation maintenance, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
What We Offer
  • A competitive hourly rate of $21.00 per hour
  • A certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • A quarterly bonus of up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
  • A sign-on bonus of $2500 at 30 days and $2500 at 90 days
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with company match
  • 12 weeks of paid maternity leave
  • Paid time off starts accruing at day one, with 80 hours per year
  • Additional day off for U.S. military veterans
  • PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance provided
