Your Role and Contributions

As a Project Risk Specialist, you will be responsible for orchestrating, coordinating, and documenting the risk management framework for projects. Your strong analytical and facilitation skills will be crucial in identifying, assessing, quantifying, mitigating, and monitoring risks in accordance with corporate standards. You will collaborate with various departments to pinpoint areas for enhancement to boost efficiency and fortify business processes.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Workshops:
  • Facilitate risk identification sessions with diverse project team members.
  • Collaborate with management and partners to devise effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Work alongside project teams to oversee the implementation of risk mitigations.
  • Engage with planners to comprehend delivery expectations, identify potential risks, and correlate risks with scheduling tasks.
  • Maintain an up-to-date project risk register to ensure accurate risk profiling.
Risk Analysis & Reporting:
  • Examine risk and safety data to identify trends and critical focus areas.
  • Enhance risk reporting through statistical analysis.
  • Compile progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Generate lessons learned documentation regarding risk management.
  • Conduct risk evaluations employing both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Risk Management Activities:
  • Oversee the proposal/project risk management process and formulate risk management plans.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Risk and Insurance team to define the insurable risk profile.
  • Deliver risk management training as necessary.
  • Continuously seek enhancements to the risk management process.
  • Support the team during project peer reviews.
  • Administer the project risk management process and develop risk management plans.
  • Implement risk management practices aligned with industry best practices and corporate policies.
  • Utilize corporate tools and systems to facilitate processes.
Business Reporting:
  • Gather reporting requirements to inform reporting frameworks.
  • Identify and prioritize the functional and technical needs of the organization based on inputs from various stakeholders.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into actionable scopes of work.
  • Establish a reporting framework by integrating Power BI and Excel data into visual dashboards.
  • Analyze extensive data sets to highlight key areas for communication with senior leadership.
  • Comprehend business strategies, objectives, and requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proficient in tools such as Excel and Power BI for data analysis.
  • 5-8 years of experience in risk management, with a total of 10 years in the Engineering and Construction sector, including roles in Project Management, Contract Management, Engineering Management, Project Controls Management, or Procurement Management.
  • Familiarity with software such as @Risk from Palisade, Active Risk Manager (ARM), Acumen, and/or Primavera risk analysis (PRA).
  • Experience with large-scale projects exceeding $100 million.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional facilitation and leadership skills.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
