Position Summary: Are you passionate about enhancing transportation systems and contributing to community development? BETA GROUP INC is seeking a dedicated Transportation Planner to engage in a variety of significant projects within the transportation planning sector. Daily Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position will vary significantly. One day may involve conducting field assessments, while the next could focus on designing pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure. Our transportation planners play a crucial role in urban development, sustainability initiatives, and streetscape enhancements.

We serve a diverse clientele, including municipalities and regional planning agencies. At BETA GROUP INC, our comprehensive service offerings promote extensive collaboration and teamwork. Our planners frequently partner with transportation engineers, landscape architects, structural engineers, and GIS specialists across various projects.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and identify mobility and safety initiatives for diverse populations and transportation modes.
  • Gather transportation data through site visits; analyze and compile findings for reporting purposes.
  • Conduct evaluations for complete streets, traffic calming measures, and shared spaces, preparing detailed reports.
  • Propose improvement strategies and create conceptual plans.
  • Summarize current and projected conditions for municipal master plans, including traffic, pedestrian, bicycle, and transit data.
  • Research best practices for innovative transportation solutions.
  • Analyze socio-economic and environmental justice data.
  • Facilitate public engagement and outreach activities.
  • Prepare for and participate in both internal and external meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and clients on complex planning and design endeavors.
  • Utilize various tools and software to create tables, graphics, and comprehensive reports.

Work Environment: The preferred locations for this role are BETA GROUP INC's offices. Candidates should be flexible regarding work locations. The company also supports a hybrid work model, allowing employees to work remotely up to two days per week.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in planning or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience is necessary.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant software is essential.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable tools.
  • A genuine eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management abilities and capacity to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Capability to collect field data and perform inspections on various assets.
  • Physical ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain prolonged periods of standing or sitting.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
