Position Overview

MECA Therapies, LLC is seeking a qualified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) or Clinical Fellow (CF) to enhance our dedicated team.

Role Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist will deliver comprehensive speech therapy services, including assessment and intervention, to individuals aged 3-21 with various diagnosed conditions. These services will be provided within the framework of MECA Therapies Children's Outpatient Clinic.

Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential responsibilities effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • Master's degree in Communication Disorders
  • Licensure from the NM Board of Speech, Language Pathology, Audiology, and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board

Core Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Communication Disorders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and related software
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork capabilities
  • Ability to educate clients, families, and professionals
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Administer standardized assessments within professional scope
  2. Develop comprehensive recommendations based on evaluations
  3. Present diagnostic findings accurately
  4. Compose detailed evaluation reports
  5. Gather relevant information from medical and other resources to inform treatment strategies
  6. Create evidence-based treatment plans with clear objectives
  7. Select suitable materials and modalities for therapy
  8. Provide clear instructions during therapy sessions
  9. Document and monitor daily progress meticulously
  10. Utilize session time effectively to achieve goals
  11. Offer timely feedback to clients and families
  12. Plan for client discharge appropriately
  13. Participate in the recruitment process for new staff as needed
  14. Maintain a clean and organized workspace daily
  15. Mentor junior therapists and students

Caseload Management:

The SLP will receive a weekly caseload assignment from the program director for each program served. Full-time SLPs will work 40 hours per week, equating to approximately 55 client visits weekly.

Productivity Expectations:

SLPs are expected to complete 2640 visits annually or the part-time equivalent.

Documentation Standards:

Accurate data collection on clients is essential, with timely filing of information as follows:

  1. Document therapy sessions and progress notes
  2. Complete SOAP notes within 48 hours of appointments
  3. Submit progress notes to the program director by designated deadlines
  4. Conduct clinic evaluations within the allotted time frame

Professional Development:

The SLP will provide support and training to ensure effective service delivery. Compliance with mandatory training requirements set by licensing boards and company policies is essential.

Supervision Responsibilities:

Certified SLPs with over two years of experience will supervise SLPs and/or student interns according to MECA guidelines and ASHA standards.

Quality Assurance:

The SLP will uphold high-quality service standards by ensuring clients understand their rights and that all therapy activities comply with ethical guidelines and MECA policies.
