Sports Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sports Coordinator to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg. As a Sports Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing guidance and leadership in a group setting to all participants, assisting and monitoring sports programming, and maintaining equipment and sports facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
- Set up programming and assist in instruction and activities for children ages 3-15.
- Maintain accurate program documentation.
- Follow the designed sports curriculum and assist in the management of sports rules for all ages.
- Maintain required tracking, attendance, and paperwork.
- Instruct youth about all aspects of the sport.
- Responsible for the use and proper storage of all equipment.
- Communicate with the supervisor any challenges or issues regarding program participants and facilities.
- Prepare the learning environment and the necessary equipment.
- Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience in sports officiating or organization, especially with children.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight and sports equipment.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
- Assist with implementing rules and regulations of all youth sports programming.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
