Job Overview

Position Summary: The Underground Cable Installation Technician plays a crucial role in the deployment of residential and commercial underground coaxial and fiber optic cable systems. Technicians utilize a range of specialized equipment to effectively install drops that support our clientele. Training is provided, making this an excellent opportunity for those new to the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and mark existing utilities to prevent damage during installation.
  • Locate unmarked utilities and customer-owned equipment, such as pet containment systems and irrigation setups.
  • Restore work sites to their original condition post-installation.
  • Interpret project drawings and instructions, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Discuss all requested and existing services with clients prior to the installation of new drops.
  • Operate machinery, including trenching and boring equipment, for cable burial.
  • Utilize handheld devices for task management and job tracking.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Accountable for any damages incurred during the installation process.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience operating trenching and boring machinery is preferred.
  • Ability to walk distances of 1/2 mile or more while operating a drop plow.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime as necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of background and motor vehicle record checks is required.
  • Openness to travel as needed.
