Job Summary

As a Phlebotomist at CSL Plasma, you will play a critical role in the collection of plasma from donors. Your primary responsibility will be to perform venipuncture, monitor the pheresis process, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the efficient and effective collection of plasma.

Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture on donors to begin the pheresis process, ensuring compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.
Evaluate vein performance of donors to identify potential issues and make necessary corrections to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety.
Maintain alertness to any donor reactions and assist with reactions or notify appropriate staff as needed.
Use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
Troubleshoot equipment failures, create incident documentation, and remove or replace equipment from service as necessary.
Monitor donor flow on the donor floor to ensure continuous turnover and alert Group Leaders or Supervisors of any issues.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
For centers located in CA, persons performing automated plasmapheresis procedures must be at least state certified as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or a current Registered Nurse by the State of California.
