Job Summary

The Machine Operator I - Production Specialist operates and maintains one simple machine or one machine line and ensures it is running efficiently with minimum supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Setup and Monitoring: Sets up machine-loading and monitors to ensure it is running efficiently.
  • Quality Control and Sanitation: Follows work order, quality controls, and sanitation procedures concerning weights, packs, descriptions, dates, UPC's, cleanup, and changeovers.
  • Quality Assurance: Performs quality control and material waste checks.
  • Team Leadership: Directs/instructs machine line personnel in specific job duties.
  • Pre-Operational Checks: Performs pre-operational checks.
  • Production and Quality Standards: Maintains and exceeds production, quality, and safety standards.
  • Product Loading: Loads product into hopper.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Cleans machine properly after production runs or changeovers.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Food Safety and Quality: Continually ensures manufacturing, distributing, and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following current good manufacturing practices, allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration and Development: Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
  • Technical and Functional Competencies: Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.
  • Safety Culture: Complies with all safety policies and procedures established for health and workplace safety. Supports safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting potential hazards, and conducting safety observations.
Requirements
  • Prior manufacturing work experience is a plus.
  • Prior industrial truck experience a plus.
  • Prior machine operator experience a plus.
  • Capable of following verbal and written directions.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to speak and read in English.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Good manual dexterity, vision, and mobility.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
